Background

SimCity for Nintendo DS lets you create, build, and run the most realistic city you can imagine. Build your own farming towns, bedroom communities, commercial centers and industry. Plus, you have to manage it all in a way that keeps your citizens happy. You'll also create railways, ferries, plan out streets, and you also get to use that transportation in a series of great new driving and transportation missions.

Features

  • Three unique modes - Build a New City, Save the City, and Sister City.
  • Sculpt mountains and gouge out valleys, then attack the cities that form with natural disasters.
  • Chat with other players and trade landmarks in Sister City mode.
  • Minigames and new advisor character help you design your city.
  • Use the touch screen to build your city, the controls are much simpler than other Simcity games.

Advisor Characters: In Simcity DS there are advisor characters. You pick one character and that advisor is yours for the whole game. They are the people that give you advise, introduce you to petitioners, and introduce you to new inventions. They help you through the whole game and it is good to listen to what they have to say. That advisor characters available in Simcity DS are: Kaishu Tachibana, Julie McSim, Ayako Tachibana, Mr. Maxis, Servo 3000, and Alien.

Main Menu

On the main menu, there are six options.

Build a City This option allows you to make a new city, or continue one you have already made. There are 20 different geographical city terrains you can chose from if you choose to make a new city. Depending on the location you pick, you can start off with either $100,000 (basic), $50,000 (easy), $20,000 (normal), or $10,000 (hard).

Post Office This option allows you to exchange data with other players.

Museum This option lets you look at all the types of buildings you can have in the game. Under Standard Collection, you see all the normal buildings and different things that can take up a spot of land, that are able to be built. Under Landmark Collection, you can enter passwords to unlock real-life buildings that you can place in your city. They are free, and don't add anything to the game (like boosted land value), they are only something neat to have.

Options Here you can change your settings: disaster difficulty, action events, and volume.

Tutorial In the tutorial option you can go through 15 different tutorials that will help you learn how to play the game.

Save the City In this option you can choose eight different places where you can save a city. The cities you can save are:
-North Amiland; save the city from the earthquake
-Sudamer; save the city from gridlock
-Ukingani; save the city from a riot
-Euroland; restore the cities' hurting economy
-Africanus; restore from an alien attack
-Russeria; restore traffic to a city riddled with accidents
-Asiazone; fix the power grid after a storm ripped it apart
-Australias; bring a destroyed city back to life
